Introduction: Ryedale Printing Works Ltd engaged ICC to become their IT infrastructure support partner in January 2020.
Service Solution Provided: IT Infrastructure support

Ryedale faced some interesting challenges prior to the onset of the Covid-19 crisis.
At the beginning of 2020, Ryedale’s MAC environment became out of support with their previous provider. ICC were tasked to install a solution to migrate 12TB of data from the MAC infrastructure to a Windows environment in two weeks.
As Ryedale made the transition to remote working, late March 2020, it became apparent that they had serious issues with their VPN access. The user experience was appalling, to say the least, a support ticket was raised with ICC to investigate and resolve the issue.
The initial project was to move Ryedale’s MAC environment to a Windows solution. Installation of two Synology NAS’s, onsite and offsite, for disaster recovery. The 12TB of data was migrated to the NAS located onsite and replicates daily to the DR site; these were the first steps towards streamlining their infrastructure and removing an unnecessarily complex back-end MAC environment.
The next steps were to upgrade the Customer Service Team PC’s; this decision was being taken as the Covid-19 crisis started to have an effect and so ICC helped Ryedale source refurbished laptops to enable the team to work from home.
ICC have provided the following solutions:
- Streamline infrastructure on to a Windows solution
- Provide new and refurbished laptops to enable remote working
- Support and resolve VPN access issues

The project was planned and executed successfully with minimal disruption to users and in the shortest time frame possible.
Tom Crowther, Enterprise Solutions Architect, provided excellent support and a solution that transformed working from home. Julie Davis, Finance Director from Ryedale, said ‘it is now akin to being in the office which feels like a true revelation. We are looking forward with confidence to our next project with ICC.’
